Having an online bet on the 2010 Melbourne Cup has never been easier! Horse Racing Bets online are just a click away, no more waiting in lines at the TAB to put on a bet or collect your winnings. We have the latest Melbourne Cup Betting guide and how to tip the cup winner.

The task is as hard as ever with 24 horses running in the great horse race that stops the nation. The hot favourite So You Think, trained by 12-time winner Bart Cummings, heads the field for the Melbourne Cup on Tuesday and drew barrier 3. So You Think is closely followed by last years winner Shocking, who is topweight this year with 57kg, is now at $8 after drawing the outside gate of 24. One of the horses sure to test So You Think came from left-field yesterday. Maluckyday, who had started just seven times before he ran away with the Lexus Stakes to clinch a berth, drew barrier six last night and firmed into third favourite at $10 after as much as $81 was bet just a week ago. The Cox Plate winner warmed up for the ‘race that stops a nation’ by claiming the Mackinnon Stakes on Saturday.

If you really don’t care much for horse form and want an easy way to make a decision here are some interesting tips on this years cup based on lucky numbers!

- This year Zipping (four) and Harris Tweed (12) have the most successful saddlecloths with 11 wins each, while last year’s Melbourne Cup winner Shocking will carry number one (10 wins).

- So You Think and Americain would be the first registered horses as bay or brown entires to win the Cup. – Keep an eye on Hong Kong stayer Mr Medici as he will carry number six which has the best recent record with six of its seven wins coming in past 50 years and four since 1989.

- English stayer Bauer carries the number 18 saddlecloth, carried just once to victory by Peter Pan when he won the first of his two Cups in 1932.

A crowd of more than 100,000 is expected at Flemington racecourse for one of Australia’s biggest annual sporting occasions. You can put on a horse racing bet for the Melbourne Cup below..

Bart Cummings has done it again with legend horse So You Think winning the Tatts Cox Plate (2040m) today at Moonee Valley.

So You Think ($1.50 fav) defeated the solid Zipping ($18), closely followed by Whobegotyou.

“He did a good job, didn’t he?” Cummings said. ”He took on the speed and just out-paced them. What can you say?” After only 10 starts, So You Think joins Phar Lap, Tobin Bronze, Kingston Town, Sunline and Northerly as a multiple winner of Australasia’s weight-for-age championship.

Cummings says it is not easy to say where So You Think ranks among his past champions. ”It’s hard to compare them all,” he said. ”They’ve all been champions really and there have been some very good ones, but I’d say this horse is up with the best at this stage.”

This is the 5th successful Cox Plate for Cummings, who hopes So You Think can now emulate his horse from heaven Saintly and win the Melbourne Cup, for which he is now $3.20 favourite. You can make your horse racing bets on the Melbourne Cup today, make sure to include So You Think is a trifecta!

Viewed and Alcopop remained equal favourites for Tuesday’s richest Australian horse race, the Melbourne Cup at Flemington after the barrier draw on Saturday night.

Viewed who has previously won the cup, drew barrier nine and betting is around $5.50 with Alcopop drawing barrier twelve.

Online horse racing bookmakers are expecting record online betting despite the current financial crisis and are offering some great free bet offers.

The big firmer in the betting on Saturday was impressive Lexus Stakes winner Shocking who came in from $21 to $11 despite drawing wide in 22.

Master O’Reilly, who drew barrier 16, is at $14.

The seven-year-old is trainer Danny O’Brien’s sole runner after stablemate Vigor failed to make the 24-horse field.

O’Brien gambled on gaining a spot for Vigor in the Cup by scratching the Caulfield Cup placegetter from Saturday’s Mackinnon Stakes, a race which, had he won, would have made him exempt from the Cup ballot.

Bart Cummings, chasing his 13th win in the Melbourne Cup, has two of the top three in TAB Sportsbet’s latest market with Viewed and stablemate Roman Emperor, who drew barrier 15, next at $8.

Cummings’ third runner in the race, Allez Wonder, drew barrier 13 and was at $26.

The Melbourne Cup Carnival has received a triple shock on the morning of its opening day with Efficient and Kirklees scratched from the Melbourne Cup while Shamoline Warrior was ruled out of the Victoria Derby.

Mark Kavanagh gained a measure of compensation for the raceday scratching of Victoria Derby favourite Shamoline Warrior when Shocking won the Group III The Lexus Stakes.

Shocking, the only runner in the Lexus field guaranteed a start in the Melbourne Cup, was produced along the rails by jockey Michael Rodd to win the 2500m race at Flemington going away from Hume and Irazu. Scenic Shot proved too strong in the Group I Mackinnon Stakes at Flemington today, while Viewed finished a slashing third to confirm he was on target for the Melbourne Cup.

Viewed, the Caulfield Cup winner bidding to go back-to-back in the Melbourne Cup, finished strongly under hand-riding on the outside to claim third, a long neck behind the runner-up.

“Did you like it, did you,” trainer Bart Cummings said of Viewed’s run. “I thought it was quite a good run, and he’ll benefit from that run.” Cummings, striving for his 13th Melbourne Cup, said that Viewed suffered a superficial cut to the off-hind hock, which was bleeding when he returned to scale.
